ZWS Sept/Oct Infoletter

Giving you the strength you need, for the life you deserve

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It has been a long and busy quarter for most businesses as they strive to adapt to the new normal while keeping the business afloat. Likewise for the healthcare industry, new technology and innovative gadgets and equipment are coming up to ensure everyone stays connected with healthcare professionals while maintaining good health. While we encourage everyone to continue observing the movement control guidelines due to the increasing infected cases and stay home, there is no excuse for not getting yourself fit in your own space, both mentally and physically.

In conjunction with the Mid Autumn Festival, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone Good Health and treasure the company of your loved ones.

Best Wishes

Dr Jillian Yeoh

Strength Training & Non Communicable Diseases

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), particularly cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and cancer, cost the Malaysian economy upwards of RM8.91 billion, equivalent to about 0.65 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. The Malaysian government has taken on this challenge by implementing the National Strategic Plan for Non - Communicable Disease 2016 - 2025 as well as associated national strategies and plans aimed at reducing risk factors for NCDs.

Strength training has cardioprotective effects other than lowering resting blood pressure. Regular strength training has been shown to reduce the blood pressure response to maximal exercise and improve heart rate recovery after cardiopulmonary exercise. Strength training also prolongs the onset of peak cardiovascular responses, decreases the cardiovascular response to exertion, and improves recovery from maximal exertion, according to the Strength & Conditioning Journal.

According to WHO, strong overall evidence demonstrates that compared to less active adult men and women, individuals who are more active;

  • have lower rates of all-cause mortality, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, colon and breast cancer, and depression
  • are likely to have less risk of a hip or vertebral fracture
  • exhibit a higher level of cardiorespiratory and muscular fitness
  • are more likely to achieve weight maintenance, have a healthier body mass and composition.

HUR Exercise Solutions allow workouts to be conducted safely and with the HUR Medical Concepts developed by Prof Arto and his research team, it becomes a comprehensive system that promotes strength training protocols for NCDs such as Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension and Coronary Artery Disease. Get in touch with us to find out more on HUR Solutions and how it can cater to your setup.

ZWS EQUIPMENT: HUR Pulley System

The HUR Pulley offers a large range of exercises in one machine. Its versatility makes it suitable for regular exercisers, athletes, seniors and wheelchair and rehabilitation users. As with all HUR machines the Natural Transmission mechanism makes the equipment easy and safe to use regardless of the speed of movement.

Additional Features include;
  • Adjustable height cable column
  • Easy continuous resistance adjustment
  • Near zero starting resistance with stepless adjustment
  • Independently adjustable stabilization handles as standard
  • Fully enclosed mechanism enhances safety and aesthetics
In this example, we have combined Pulley 2 in 1 and Pulley 3 in 1 to create a crossover station. This Crossover station adds more variety to the everyday exercises.

Pulley can be used for a wide variety of exercises. Because of the easy adjustments and features it can easily be used by wheelchair users too. The modular design of our HUR Pulley machines makes it possible to flexibly create different machine entities. Get in touch with us at Zen Wellness Sanctuary to get yourselves equipped with the modular and flexible HUR Pulley System today!
